Tom Hutchison is the co-founder of Big Dog Ink as well as the writer and creator of thirteen different titles including Critter, Penny for Your Soul, Ursa Minor, Legend of Oz: The Wicked West, Kaiju Epic and more. He also serves as the art director for the company’s many titles. Tom has taken part in virtually every portion of the industry at one time or another, starting as a reader and collector, then managing a local comic book shop before moving on and owning his own store. Tom has now been writing and creating comics through Big Dog Ink for the past thirteen years.

Big Dog Ink was an integrated imprint of Aspen Comics for three years before returning to publishing its own titles once again in 2018. Recently, Tom has written for Dynamite Comics bringing Bad Kitty back to life, and Antarctic Press has acquired the publishing rights to Critter beginning in 2024.

Tom loves the idea of giving back to the comic book community and has been a part of many panels discussing “breaking in”, writing, self-publishing and more. With dozens of successful Kickstarter projects under his belt, Tom is currently adapting the focus of Big Dog Ink to allow for more direct connection between his supporters and the creative teams at BDI.
